We can carry out concentrated load and soft body impact tests in accordance with BS EN 12871 and BS EN 1195. Under the Construction Products Regulation, this is now a requirement as part of the Initial Type Testing for all wood-based panels that are to be offered for sale as structural floor or roof decking in accordance with BS EN 13986. The results of these tests form part of the manufacturer’s Declaration of Performance required under BS EN 13986 in conjunction with CE marking
Both the concentrated load and soft body impact tests are carried out at what is determined to be the “weakest” point on a floor. With a conventional wood-based panel this is normally at mid-span adjacent to the tongue and grooved joint. For composite floors, including those fitted with grooves for under-floor heating pipes, it is sometimes necessary to carry out trial tests to establish the weakest point.
Since the test result is often limited by the performance of the tongue and groove joint, testing can also be carried out to establish the relative performance of different tongue and groove profiles and of different fixing systems.
We can carry out UKAS accredited testing of non-cement-based screed materials for flexural and compressive strength in accordance with BS EN 13892-2. In conjunction with the Exova BM TRADA Q-Mark scheme
