Sedex Member Ethical Trade Audits (SMETA) 

Audits are a widely recognised way of satisfying your customers and potential new customers that you do not represent a risk in your supply chain and demonstrate ethical trading. 


Who is SMETA for? 

The Supplier Ethical Data Exchange (Sedex) is a not-for-profit membership organisation that works with buyers and suppliers to deliver improvements in ethical trading practises in global supply chains.

SMETA was developed for Sedex members but it is not exclusive to them, any company can request an audit. The benefit of a SMETA audit is that you can demonstrate your ethical behavious in a structured way which will assist you in managing this, improve working practices for staff and gives reassurance to new and existing customers as well as safeguarding you business relationships.

Exova BM TRADA offers a three tiered approach: 

1. Auditing - Our auditors are experienced and knowledgable in labour law and are therefore able to help identify areas where policy or practise may conflict with these and deliver a full, detailed and beneficial audit. 
2. Sedex report uploading - the completed SMETA report will be uploaded to the Sedex database by Exova BM TRADA's skilled certification officers. 
3. Training - Exova BM TRADA training experts can offer courses on the requirements of SMETA so that you can know how to adopt best practise.
