BM TRADA has updated its free DVD explaining the fire resistance testing process for passive fire protection products such as fire-resisting doorsets and fire penetration seals.

Aimed primarily at companies who are developing and manufacturing fire protection products, the updated DVD, Fire Resistance Testing Explained, takes the viewer through the entire fire testing process from specimen design and how to devise a fire test programme, to obtaining third party certification.

Using a live fire doorset test as an example, the DVD shows how products prepared for testing and the range of measurements that are taken during the test. The video highlights typical failure criteria and explains the test evidence required to prove the performance of typical passive fire protection products.

Running for approximately 20 minutes, this new edition brings this popular DVD up to date, providing advice on meeting the requirements of the Construction Products Regulation and CE marking, as well as testing to British Standards. The DVD also outlines the services and support that BM TRADA can offer from its independent, UKAS-accredited facilities.

It highlights BM TRADA’s extensive expertise in fire resistance and reaction to fire testing and demonstrates how the organisation can assist clients through the testing, CE marking and certification process.

The DVD also provides invaluable guidance to architects, designers, specifiers, controlling authorities and building owners/managers, in fact to anyone who needs to make sense of available test evidence and understand the importance of passive fire protection products and how they work.
