Sedex is a global non-profit membership organisation that is world’s largest collaborative platform for sharing responsible sourcing data on supply chains, used by more than 38,000 members in over 150 countries. Tens of thousands of companies use Sedex to manage their performance around labour rights, health & safety, the environment and business ethics.
SMETA (Sedex Member Ethical Trade Audits) were introduced as a mechanism to monitor every business in a supply chain. The current version of SMETA was introduced in April 2017 and Exova BM TRADA are proud to announce that they are able to offer this service from March 2018.
Exova BM TRADA showcased their new SMETA service, which is available to both members of Sedex and non-members, at the Sedex Conference 2018 which is an annual conference bringing together 650 members and non-members from across the globe to meet face-to-face, share ideas and learn about the issues that matter to every responsible business. The conference took place at The Brewery in London on 13-14th
The event was a great opportunity to talk with the delegates from a range of companies including many global brands and also meet with sustainability leaders during the conference breaks. Exova BM TRADA discussed its newly launched SMETA product. This product offers two and four pillar audits which review aspects such as: labour practices, health & safety of employees and to ascertain if ethical trading initiatives are met.
Exova BM TRADA Certification Sales Manager, Andy Green said ‘’We were delighted to introduce our new SMETA product at the recent Sedex conference in London. It was an excellent two days with a very positive atmosphere and everyone we spoke to was very encouraging about the event.’’
