CE-marking for Construction Products

Posted on 08/10/2018

Third-party certification gives your customers reassurance that your products and services will perform as they are intended to do. Achieving certification takes time but the benefits are huge because it demonstrates that products and services meet appropriate standards, which can give your organisation access to new markets.

Third-party certification in a nutshell is the checking of manufacturing processes and services by independent experts.

Getting your product to market quickly is critical. This is especially true in the construction sector. BM TRADA offers an array of certification services for the building and construction products sector to enable you to get your products quickly into the markets you want.

One such scheme is the CE marking construction products third party certification scheme.  CE marking of construction products is certification covering a wide range of products used within the construction industry.

The Construction Products Regulation (CPR) replaced the Construction Products Directive (CPD). It is now mandatory for products which fall under the scope of the regulation to have CE marking.

The CE marking construction products certification scheme covers the following products:

• roof trusses
• metal web beams
• timber frame
• aggregates
• visual strength grading
• machinery strength grading
• joist hangers
• European Technical Approval/Assessments.

If you manufacture or import products that are within the scope of the Regulation, you will be required to declare that the product complies with the Regulation and display the CE mark, before they can be sold in the UK and Europe.

BM TRADA is a notified body and ETA issuing body for the CPR, we have a wealth of expertise and can provide CE marking certification services where required.
